About iPS Research
iPS Cell Research and the Future of Medicine
Induced pluripotent stem (iPS) cells were first introduced in 2006 by Professor Shinya Yamanaka and his research team at Kyoto University. In recognition of this groundbreaking achievement, Professor Yamanaka was awarded the 2012 Nobel Prize in Physiology or Medicine. Today, iPS cell technology continues to advance research in regenerative medicine, disease modeling, drug discovery, and longevity science.

TENSHIN INTERNATIONAL offers an integrated iPS cell banking and long-term preservation program covering blood collection, cell line establishment, quality testing, and long-term storage. All medical procedures and cell-processing operations are carried out by our partner medical institutions and cell-processing facilities in Japan.

Blood Collection at Partner Medical Institutions in Japan
Blood collection is arranged at one of our partner medical institutions in Japan. Prior to the procedure, clients receive a comprehensive health consultation and a detailed explanation of the collection process to ensure a safe and well-informed experience.

iPS Cell Line Establishment
iPS cell induction and culture are performed by our partner institutions in Japan within facilities operating under GMP-grade standards.

Quality Testing
A series of quality assessments—including cell viability, purity, and safety testing—is conducted in accordance with applicable Japanese standards and requirements.

Long-Term Cell Storage
Cells are cryopreserved in liquid nitrogen at −196°C at cell-storage facilities in Japan, with redundant backup storage arrangements for enhanced security and continuity.

Certificate of Cell Storage
An official certificate of cell storage is issued as formal documentation of the preserved cells for potential future medical use and long-term family planning.

Ongoing Support
Clients receive annual cryostorage reports, record updates, and facilitated access to the latest regenerative medicine resources and consultation opportunities through our partner network.

NK (Natural Killer) cells derived from iPS cells can recognize and attack cancer cells, making them one of the most promising approaches in cancer immunotherapy today.

Clinical Trial Progress
In 2023, an investigator-initiated clinical trial for ovarian cancer was conducted in China, marking the world's first administration of immune cells derived from allogeneic iPS cells. The study confirmed safety and observed reductions in ascites, decreases in tumor marker levels, and prolonged survival. The program has since expanded into a company-sponsored clinical trial involving 12 patients, with further clinical studies planned in Japan and the United States.
